Send an Automatic Campaign

As part of the form submission process, it is possible to send an email campaign automatically to the contact when they complete the form.

This is done by adding an action at either form or element level. At form level, the campaign will be sent with every form submit. At element level, the campaign will only be sent depending on the data submitted.

Tip: use form validation, e.g. CAPTCHA, when using a form to trigger a campaign to protect against bot-submission of forms and bot-triggered sends.

Example Use

This could be useful for a sign up form, where you want to send the contact the most recent newsletter when they submit. Or to send a competition campaign, if a field in your form is for a competition entry.

In order for this to work, you will need to have the campaign you wish to automatically send set up and it will need to have been published.

Form Level Action

To add the action to the form, click the 'Actions' tab which you can access from the form overview page, then select the 'Send campaign' link in the Add Actions list.

This action simply requires you to choose the relevant campaign, which you can do using the 'Select Campaign' button.

Once the action has been set up, when the contact submits the form, they will be sent the selected campaign automatically.

Element Level Action

When adding an action to an element, the campaign will only be sent depending on the data submitted, and the conditions for the action will vary depending on the element. Choosing the target campaign follows the same process as above, however the set up will differ depending on which element is used.

This example will show how to add the action to a list checkbox element, so that when a contact checks the option and submits the form, an automatic email will be sent to them.

The first step is to create the element.

Once saved, you will be returned to the form overview. Click on the element label in the element list, and you will be able to select the 'Actions' tab. Select the 'Send campaign' link in the Add Actions list.

In this example of using a list checkbox element, the action will trigger if the element is checked when the contact submits the form.

Click 'Save' and the action will be added to the element.

Now the element and action have been set up, once the campaign has launched and the form is submitted by a contact, they will be sent the selected campaign automatically.
