Launch

Launching the campaign is the fourth step in the campaign workflow. When launching your campaign you are directed through a four-step process, this consists of both final checks and the launch. The Launch step aims to detect problems that may affect deliverability, making sure the campaign works as intended and is well received.

On this page:

Four Step Process

Once the Launch Checklist no longer displays any error icons the Test and Launch button will be displayed.

Clicking the Test and Launch button will take you to the first of the final checks, where you will be given a step-by-step guide.

The Next button in the bottom right corner of each page will direct you through the stages or you can click on the numbered boxes in the top right. You can return to the overview at any point.

Test Email

It is advisable to send a test email to your own email client before launching the campaign, to make sure it works as you expect.

The content can then be checked for both HTML and text versions separately by selecting 'Send only text content'. You can also specify the contact's details to use in your test emails, which can be useful to test any personalisation.

Click Next: Spam Check to go to the next step.

Spam Check

Spam Check will rate your campaign's content against an industry standard spam filter and give a score in order to assess your emails deliverability chances.

A score of less than 3 is recommended. If any problems in the content are detected, explanations are provided to help you refine your copy if needed.

Link Check

Link Check reviews the links in both your text and HTML content to ensure your email works correctly.

If any links are faulty they will be flagged with a warning and you can test a flagged link by clicking on it. You can go back and edit your campaign content to fix any broken links by clicking Edit Text Message and Edit HTML Message.

Setup Launch

The final stage is the launch setup, this page will give you a brief summary of any campaign details and then the options to define your campaign set up.

Note: the auto-generated from address will include a tracking reference for the campaign's inbound report that appears as randomised letters between the prefix (default prefix is mail.) and the @ symbol, e.g. mail.dnrmtemblq@example.adestra.com. You can also set a custom from address on the options tab.

At this point, the campaign should be finalised and ready to schedule its launch. You can launch immediately, using the Now option, or you can schedule your campaign launch.

Your password is required to confirm the launch and clicking the 'Launch' button will begin the launch process, either immediately or at the scheduled time.

Tip: Allow time for the campaign to launch before editing the Campaign Details. If you change the subject line immediately after launching, for example, emails remaining in the queue may be updated to include the incorrect subject line.

Frequency Suppression

If there are profiles available for the current workspace, the launch page will display the 'Frequency Suppression' section. Check the box to enable this option and then select a the profile you wish to apply.

Note: If there are no profiles available for the workspace, this section will not be displayed.

The frequency profile may be set by default for your account, which means you will not be given the option to select a profile. For more information, refer to the Frequency Manager topic.

Depending on your campaign and account set-up, you may also see a number of tabs displayed alongside the 'Launch' option.

Follow-up Campaigns

You will have the option to schedule the campaign to resend to non-openers at a later date by selecting the 'Automatically resend this campaign to non-openers' checkbox.

Selecting this option will expand the screen to display the available options.

When your campaign launches, a new follow-up campaign will be created in your project and you have the option here to change the subject line of the resend, or to simply use the original.

The resend delay is the amount of time Adestra will wait after the campaign is launched before resending. You can specify the delay here or, alternatively, you can select 'Launch manually' and choose when to resend at a later date.

Stagger this launch

This feature allows you to stagger a campaign launch by specifying the delay or schedule for each launch segment. This gives you greater flexibility and control over how much of your campaign is launched and when.

For more information, see Staggered Launch.

Split Test

If you are launching a split test campaign, the 'Setup Launch' will default to the 'Split Test' tab. This page allows you to define the options for the split test launch, including the test percentage and the criteria used to determine the best performing variant. If you choose to launch automatically to the winning variant, you are also given the option to schedule a follow-up campaign.

Request Approval

Some campaigns require checking and approval before launching. The Approval Requests page displays the approval request settings for you to define, though depending on your account setup some of these options may be predefined.

Publish Only

Within the Setup Launch, you are also able to publish your campaign using the Publish Only tab. Publishing prepares a campaign for launch by detecting links and preparing the message content. Adestra does this automatically before you launch, so publishing manually is not normally needed. However, if you make changes to your campaign or web analytics profiles, publishing the campaign will update it to reflect the changes.

The Publish Only feature is particularly useful if it has been created for an automation or form. As they will both launch the campaign automatically, either as a contact reaches the Publish Campaign stage or if there is a send campaign action for submitting a form.

For more information on previous launches and publications, refer to the Launch Data topic.

Launch Monitor

Note: This is an On Demand feature. If you would like more information about this feature, contact your account manager.

The Launch Monitor displays a performance metric of your campaign after it is launched. You can view information for the launches completed in the last 48 hours.

Launch Copies to Seed Addresses

Note: This is an On Demand feature. If you would like more information about this feature, contact your account manager.

By providing a list of seed addresses, you can keep track of campaign launches and their content by being sent launch copies. These will show the content, as well as some additional data in the footer.

To prevent launch copies being sent for recurring or 'drip drip' sends (such as a contacts arriving at a launch stage in an automation program), a threshold can be set so that launch copies will only be sent when a launch is to more contacts than the threshold value.

Note: Seed addresses and threshold values are set by us in-house. For any adjustments, contact Adestra Customer Support (adestra-support@uplandsoftware.com).
