Your Target

About Targets

A Target (the orange box in the graphic below) is a "pointer" to a specific instance of a search application, such as Elasticsearch.

Tip: Search application instances have one or more indexes.

A Target also maps the properties of your items (documents, graphics, etc.) as you specify. See "Mapping Properties of the Items in Your Source System," below.

  • In the example below Connectivity Hub is configured with Elasticsearch and the Target points to an Elasticsearch instance with 3 search indexes: A, B, and C.
  • In the current version (v2.0) of Connectivity Hub, the Content Source set in Connectivity Hub defines which index is used from the Target that you have specified. In the example below, "Search Index A" is specified.

Note:

Multiple content sources cannot point to the same index – there is one index per content source.

Multiple Targets can point to the same search application instance.

Before you can add your Target, you must install BA Insight ConnectivityHub.

  • You can add multiple Targets.
  • More than one Target can point to the same instance of a search application.
  • ConnectivityHub v2.x does not use Target schemas. You simply mark the properties as active to capture them into your index.

ConnectivityHub Targets Dashboard

Targets are easily accessed from your ConnectivityHub dashboard using the link from the top horizontal menu.

Below you see a sample Elastic Target being selected from the drop-down menu. Note that multiple targets are available, using the scroll bar.

Mapping Properties of the Items in Your Source System

In the example below the ConnectivityHub Target maps the following Elasticsearch properties from your Source System, and stores the mapping as a schema in "Search Index A":
Note that one property does not change, as it is not mapped to a different property.

  • Author->Name
  • Title->Label
  • Date->Date

For more information about Elasticsearch mapping, see Elastic Schema.

Note: Information about mapping other backends can be found within the category How to Configure Your Target.
