Index Your Own Database Using the SQL Connector

Use the SQL Connector, which is installed as part of the Connectivity Hub to access your third-party SQL databases.

Add Your SQL Database Connection

Use the following steps to add a SQL connection.

1. From the Connections page, select New > SQL connection.
   
   
   
2. The Connection Info page appears.
   
   
   
3. Title: Enter the name of your connection. This must be a unique name.
   
4. Data Provider: By default, SqlServer is entered.

Specify the General Settings for Your Database Connection

1. From the Connections page, select <your SQL Connection> > > Edit.
   
2. Click the General Settings tab.
   
3. Connection Mode: By default, Basic is specified. "Advanced" mode is described at the end of this section.
   Due to a vulnerability fix on the SQL Client, the default encryption for SQL Connections has been set to true. This applies to both basic and advanced connection modes. If you do not support encryption in your databases, you must use an advanced connection mode in order to specify Encrypt=false in the connection string. For more information, see Advanced Mode.
   
   
   
4. Database Server Address:
   1. Enter your database server address.
      
5. Database Name:
   1. Enter your database name. 
      
6. Connection Timeout:
   1. Default setting is 500 (seconds).
   2. Set as desired.
      
7. Authentication mode: The account used to run the Job service and the Connectivity Hub Admin website.
   Specify one of the following:
   • Use Service Account:
     • Default entry.
     • No additional information required.
   • Specify User Account:
     • Enter the account credentials for a single user.

Advanced Mode

1. Connection Mode: Use the drop-down list box to select Advanced.
   
   
   
2. In Advanced mode, you are required to specify the Connection String.
   Due to a vulnerability fix on the SQL Client, the default encryption flag for SQL Connections has been changed to true. As a result, you must specify Encrypt=false in your connection string if you do not support encryption in your database. For example, Server=myServerAddress;Database=myDataBase;User Id=myUsername;Password=myPassword;Encrypt=false;

   1. Standard formats for connection strings:

      • For SQL use: Server=SERVERORIP;Database=DBNAME;User ID=USERID;Password=PASSWORD;Encrypt=false;
      • For Oracle use: Server=SERVERORIP;PORT=1521;SID=samples;User Id=USERID;Password=PASSWORD;
