Designer basics

With the Designer you can create templates for personalized letters, emails and web pages, and generate output from them.

These are the basic steps for creating and developing a template:

  1. Create a template
Create a template, using one of the Template Wizards. See Creating a template.

  2. Fill the template
Add text, images and other elements to the template, and personalize and style them. See:

For most templates, an address block will be your starting point. See Address Block.

You can create data mapping configurations to extract data from a variety of data sources. See DataMapper basics.

  3. Generate output
Adjust the settings, test the template and generate output through the Designer.
Or, let an automation tool generate the output, using your data mapping configurations, templates and (in the case of a Print template) print presets.
    See Generating output.

You can automate your customer communications using Workflow and/or Node-RED (see OL Connect Automate).

Tip: Alternatively you could start with a Sample Project which creates an entire Connect solution: a Workflow configuration, as well as any Connect templates, data mapping configurations, Job Presets and Output Presets that are used in that configuration. See: Sample Projects.
