Agent Log Cleaner Agent

The Agent Log Cleaner agent removes agent task log entries that are older than the number of days specified in the "Oldest Log Age" for every task. This agent also removes log entries that are older than the "'Safe' log entry threshold" value for tasks that start and end without any activities and are essentially empty (more information in the procedure below).

Note: This agent cannot be manually run.

To edit the Agent Log Cleaner agent's details:

Before You Start: Only PowerSteering administrators can interact with PowerSteering agents.

  1. Select Admin Configuration Agents from the Navigation Menu.

  2. Select Agent Log Cleaner Agent from the list of agents.

  3. (Optional) Review any of the agent's details and / or run logs.

  4. Select the Edit button in the top right-hand corner of the page.

  5. Configure the agent's details.

    • Title: Select the title field to change the name of the agent task.

Note: This will only change the name of the agent task, not the agent itself.

    • Is Active: Determine whether the agent is active or not. Inactive agents will not run.

    • Interval (Mins): Determine the time interval (in minutes) between runs. This means that whenever the agent runs, its next run will automatically occur again after the indicated interval.

    • Oldest Log Age (Days): Enter the number of days that the oldest logs will be saved. Runs that occurred after the indicated number of days will be removed from PowerSteering.

Tip: Try to enter the lowest number of days possible in order to ensure that PowerSteering runs efficiently.

    • Next Run Time: Click on the field to select a date and time for the agent's next run. The currently-scheduled next run will auto-populate the field.
    • Expiration Date: Click on the field to select a date and time for the agent to automatically expire (turn off).

    • 'Safe' log entry threshold: This indicates how many intervals can pass by before "safe" or "empty" log entries (log entries that start and end without any activity occurring) are deleted from an agent task.

Example: If "7" is set as the value and 1440 minutes is the "Interval" for an agent task, empty entries (log entries that start and end without any activities) that are older than 7 days (1440 minutes x 7) will be deleted. If the interval for an agent task is set to 15 minutes instead, the agent will delete empty log entries that are older than 105 minutes (15 minutes x 7).

  6. Select the Save button.

After selecting Save, your changes to the Agent Log Cleaner agent will be saved. They can be edited again at any time.
