Add a New Executive Review Layout

The Executive Review, often referred to as the "bubble charts" are multidimensional charts that can really wow an audience.

1. Click Executive Review

  1. On the Icon Bar, click the Admin button, then click Layouts to expand the menu.
  2. Click Executive Review.

3. Enter Executive Review Layout Information

  1. Enter executive review layout information. Page sections are defined in the following steps.
  2. Click Save Changes.

3.1 Basic Information

Basic Information

Name: A unique name for the Executive Review layout.

Default layout: If selected, the layout will be the initial layout that a user sees when viewing Executive Reviews. Users will still have the option to choose a different Executive Review layout if they are available.

Description: A brief description of the Executive Review layout (optional).

Notify portfolio owners about this layout: If selected, a notification will be sent to all portfolio owners informing them that a new Executive Review layout has been created.

Administrators: Search for and select users or groups that will have permissions to edit the Executive Review layout (optional). Only users or groups with the Executive Review Layout Administration permission can be selected for this field. See Set up Sub-Administration Permissions and Assign a User as a Sub-Administrator for more information about sub-administration.

3.2 X Axis Settings - Schedule

Axis Type: Select which data should be displayed as the X axis.

Axis Setup: From the drop-down menu, select the schedule information to be displayed as the X axis.

Axis Type: Select which data should be displayed as the X axis.

Axis Setup: From the drop-down menu, select the process to be displayed as the X axis.

3.4 X Axis Settings - Measures

Axis Type: Select which data should be displayed as the X axis.

Axis Setup: Select axis setup options.

Template: The measure template to use as the X axis.

Display: Determines how data points will be displayed.

  • Value: Only the measure value will be displayed in the Dashboard.
  • Indicator: Only the measure indicator icon will be displayed in the Dashboard.
  • Value & Indicator: Both the measure value and indicator icon will be displayed in the Dashboard.
  • Value & Background: The measure value will be displayed in the Dashboard with a background color according to measure thresholds.

Set Scale: Determines the layout scale.

  • Automatic: The graph is automatically scaled to fit all projects inside the bubble chart.
  • Fixed: A lower and upper bound and, optionally, a break point are set. The break point defines where the X axis will be bisected.

3.5 X Axis Settings - Metric

X Axis Settings - Metric

Axis Type: Select which data should be displayed as the X axis.

Axis Setup: Select a metric template to use for the X axis and specify additional axis setup options. Additional setup options will differ based on which metric template is selected.

Column Label: The label that will be used for the X axis.

Start: The earliest date that data was entered for the metric. This originates from the metric template and is non-editable.

Frequency: The time period covered by the metric: monthly, quarterly or yearly. This originates from the metric template and is non-editable.

Track for Period: The period of time that the X axis covers. This will only be an option if you have selected a metric template with a frequency.

Select View: Specifies the metric template view to use for the X axis. This will only be an option if you have selected a metric template with multiple views.

and: Specifies an optional second metric template view.

with: Specifies the type of variances to use.

Select Item: Specifies the metric template line item to use for the X axis

Axis Type: Select which data should be displayed as the X axis.

Axis Setup: From the drop-down menu, select the tag and then the tag value to be displayed as the X axis.

Axis Type: Select which data should be displayed as the Y axis.

Axis Setup: Each axis type has its own set of axis setup options and are the same as the X axis setup options defined above.

3.8 Z Axis Settings

Include Z-Axis?: Determines whether a Z axis will be displayed on the Executive Review layout.

Axis Type: Select which data should be displayed as the Z axis.

Axis Setup: Select axis setup options. Each axis type has its own set of axis setup options and are the same as the X axis setup options defined above.

3.9 Point Coloring

Color By: Select how colors of z axis data points in the graph are displayed.

  • Color by Measure: Data points will be colored according to the measure template progress indicator color.
  • Color by Project Status: Data points will be colored according to their project’s status color.

Measure Setup: Select measure setup options. This section is only available when Color by Measure is selected.

Template: Determines which measure template will be used for data point coloring.

Display: Determines how data point coloring will be displayed.

  • Value: Only the measure value will be displayed for data points.
  • Indicator: Only the measure indicator icon will be displayed for data points.
  • Value & Indicator: Both the measure value and indicator icon will be displayed for data points.
  • Value & Background: The measure value will be displayed for data points with a background color according to measure thresholds.

Note: You will only see this section if you have opted to include a Z axis.

3.10 Quadrant Color Options

  • Specify the color of each layout quadrant.

Note: You will only see this section if you set both the X axis and Y axis to fixed scale, which results in a four-quadrant graph.
