Import a document type

You can import a document type that was previously exported. This action is often performed when an administrator wants to export a document type from one instance of Upland Qvidian, such as sandbox environment, and then import that document type to a different instance of Upland Qvidian, such as a production environment.

Note: Clients who were Upland Qvidian users prior to Spring 2017, can download and import the RFP Package document type that contains components that are compatible with RFP projects.

  1. Go to Architecture > Document Types.
  2. Click Create Doc Type and select Import from the dropdown menu.
  3. Drag and drop the file you wish to import or click Browse File to locate the desired file.
  4. Click the Select Content Folder Select Content Folder icon icon to select the content folder where content for this document type will be stored.
  5. (Optional) Select the Include Templates and/or Include Content checkboxes to include those elements in the import.
  6. (Optional) Select the Import as new checkbox.
  7. Select one of the following:
    • Email me when the import is complete: When the import is complete, Upland Qvidian will send an email notifying you when the document type is complete and available in the grid.
    • Wait for import to complete: The import request will be processed and the document type will appear in the grid. When the import is complete, you will receive an email notifying you when the document type is available.
  8. Click Import.
