Using Cover Page Template Variables Guidelines
You can use the following guidelines to add variables to cover page templates.
Cover page template variables
-
Enclose the variable between two percent signs.
Correct usage: %BUSINESS_PHONE%
Incorrect usage: BUSINESS_PHONE -
Do not place spaces between the percent signs and the variable.
Correct usage: %COMMENT%
Incorrect usage: % COMMENT % -
Do not use spaces in the variable name.
Correct usage: %RECIPIENT_EMAIL%
Incorrect usage: %RECIPIENT EMAIL% -
When using Microsoft Word to create your cover page templates, you can use variables in the headers and footers, as well as the document body.
Additional distribution list variables
When you use a distribution list variable, you must specify the recipient for which you want to display data. Consider the following examples for To and CC recipients respectively:
-
When you include the variable %TO_NAME.[x]%, you must substitute a number for [x]. The value of [x] corresponds the order of recipients in the To field. So if you want to display the name of the third recipient in the To field, then the variable in the cover page template would be %TO_NAME.3%.
-
When you include the variable %CC_FAX_PHONE.[x]%, you must substitute a number for [x]. The value of [x] corresponds to the order of recipients in the CC field. So if you want to display the fax phone number of the second recipient listed in the CC field, then the variable in the cover page template would be %CC_FAX_PHONE.2%.
Note: Cover page templates can only display information about recipients in the To and CC fields. Because recipients in the BCC field are blind carbon copy recipients, any data pertaining to them does not appear on e-mail systems that support the BCC feature.
