Configuring Attachment Splitting Policy
Various companies have policies related to the processing of single, multiple, and large documents. Administrators can institute splitting and merging document policies via Route to Connector rules. All rules with Route to Connector actions are supported, including the default rules created for the connector and custom rules that are created after the
Note: The split/merge functionality is not applicable to messages being routed to FaxCenter, the Embedded Directive Manager, or the Lookup Manager.
To configure the attachment splitting policy in a rule

In the Server Administrator, expand RuleSets.

Find and select the appropriate rule for the splitting policy configuration. The Rule Properties dialog box. appears.

Select the Actions tab.

Select the Deliver.... action on the Actions tree. The Action Properties dialog box appears.

Ensure the Allow sender to override Format check box is not selected.

Select the Delivery Options button. The Delivery Options dialog box appears.

Select Override document processing.

Select the Split mulit-page attachments into page groupings option. When you enable this option, the server processes the pages in a document sequentially and creates additional attachments when necessary based on the split instructions.

Select one of the following options.
- Based on attachment page count - Select No longer than. Enter the page number where attachments should be split.
When the first attachment reaches the number of pages specified, the server creates another attachment and continues processing the pages in the document. Additional attachments are created as specified until all the pages in the document are processed. For example, if the option specifies 3 as the page limit, the AccuRoute Server would process a 7 page document and generate 3 attachments: the first attachment includes pages 1, 2, and 3, the second attachment includes pages 4, 5, and 6, and the third attachment includes page 7. - Based on file size - Select No Larger than. Enter the file size. When the first attachment reaches the file size specified, the server creates another attachment and continues processing the pages in the document. Additional attachments are created as specified until all the pages in the document are processed.
- Based on attachment page count - Select No longer than. Enter the page number where attachments should be split.
Note: Upland AccuRoute does not recommend setting file size policies smaller than 2MB. When the server cannot enforce the file size policy, the message fails and the following error is listed in the message journal: (0x80070057 - The parameter is incorrect.).

Select the Merge all attachments before splitting as directed option if message attachments should be merged before they are split.
- If you enable this option, the server merges all the attachments from the original message into a single attachment and then begins processing the merged attachment. (The merge order is based on the order in which the user originally added attachments to the message.) If this option is not enabled and the original message has multiple attachments, the AccuRoute Server processes each attachment individually.

Click OK on the Delivery Options dialog box.

Click OK on the Action Properties dialog box.

Click OK on the Rule Properties dialog box.
