Recurring Campaigns

Note: This is an On Demand feature. If you would like more information about this feature, contact your account manager.

Recurring campaigns are campaigns that are automatically launched on a regular basis to a particular list. In combination with the Adestra import manager or filter features, recurring campaigns can be used to create sophisticated automatic marketing programs.

Creating a Recurring Campaign

The initial set-up of a recurring campaign is the same process as setting up a regular campaign, except that the inclusion of a filter is required and the campaign will need to be published. For help creating and using filters or publishing a campaign, please refer to the Filters and Publishing help documentation.

Once your campaign is complete and ready to launch, you can create the recurrence in step four of the 'Test and Launch' process. The 'Setup Launch' page will display the 'Create Recurrence' tab, where you can define the recurrence settings.

Note: The 'Create Recurrence' tab will not be available if the campaign does not have a filter applied.

This page gives a brief summary of the details of your campaign, and the filter details, including the link to 'Fetch filtered count'. Clicking this link will fetch the filtered count of your list with the filter applied to it.

Recurrence Date Range

Recurring campaigns require you to specify the duration of recurrence, which you can do by selecting an inclusive start and end date using the calendar icons.

Launch Frequency

The launch frequency allows you to choose when campaign will launch, how often and whether there are any dates you wish to ignore (weekends or bank holidays for example).

Depending on your selection, the screen will update to display further options available:

  • Start of each month: you can choose how many days after the start of each month the campaign will recur
  • End of each month: you can choose how many days before the end of each month the campaign will recur
  • Weekly: you can choose how many weeks between recurrences
  • Daily: you can choose how many days between recurrences

Note: The maximum recurrence possible is once per day.

Launch Time

You can also able to select the time of day the campaign will launch.

Note: The launch time will be local to current user's time zone.

Excluded dates

To specify dates that launches should not be sent on, such as bank holidays, click add and use the date picker to specify the date. You can add multiple exclusion dates.

Select 'Ignore weekends', to prevent any launches occurring on a Saturday or Sunday.

Note: If a launch falls on a weekend, the launch is not deferred and no send will occur until the next recurrence.

Other Settings

Repeated Sends

By default, when a contact has received a campaign once, they won't receive it again.

Select the 'Repeated sends' option so a campaign can be sent to each contact more than once. This can be useful if you want to automate a daily newsletter feed to your contacts, for example.

Reports

If checked you will receive an automated email notification sent to you for each launch completion.

Password

Your password is required to confirm the recurring launch settings, and clicking the 'Save recurring launch' button will begin the launch process according to your frequency settings.

Saving the recurring launch will return you to the campaign overview, which will now display a recurring launches notification banner at the top of the screen.

Editing Recurring Launches

Once you have enabled the recurring launches, the campaign will be locked and no changes can be made. If you want to make changes to the campaign, the recurring launches must be stopped by clicking the Stop recurring launches button.

You can view and make changes to the recurrence settings by clicking the Recurring launch settings button. This will take you to the recurring launch set up page. Any changes made will require your password to confirm.
