Reviewing Import Data

When you import recipient data into PostUp, the system will queue the import for processing and take you to the import status page. This page will automatically refresh every 30 seconds. When complete, the statistics for the import will be displayed.

Tip: use the notify upon completion option when setting up your import to receive an email when the import completes.

Large data files may take so long that waiting on the import status page may not be practical. You may navigate away from the page, e.g. to create a campaign, and return to view your results by selecting the import from the import history table on the import tab.

Tip: use the dropdown menus in the import history table to filter the results, e.g. select the importing type and email channel to see which email imports are still processing.

The import status screen displays:

  • The current status of the import.

  • The recipient statistics. Includes the number of addresses:

    • In the uploaded file.

    • Removed because they were invalid. Email address was deemed undeliverable, e.g. email address does not match ISP standards.

    • Fixed because they were invalid. Email address is deliverable but contains an addressable issue such as a minor typo.

    • Purged from existing lists. Email addresses not imported because they were in a purge list selected during the import configuration.

    • Suppressed. Email addresses not imported because they were in a suppression list selected during the import configuration.

    • Blocked because of their domain. You can set which domains are blocked when creating a list.

    • Blocked because their domains are flagged for manual review.

    • Blocked because they matched a stop word. PostUp maintains a list of stop words which will fail a recipient upon import.

    • Blocked because they matched a stop word that is flagged for manual review.

    • Already in the database and updated by the import.

    • That were opted out, i.e. recipient was in the PostUp database and in an OptOut status.

    • That failed to import for some other reason. This is typically due to an issue with data mapping.

    • Successfully imported.

  • The list statistics.

    • Which existing lists were updated, the number of recipients already on that list, and the number of new recipients added.

    • Which new lists were created and the number of new recipients added.

Some of the items include a download link. This link allows you to view which recipients are included in the count provided.

Note:PostUp archives the import statistics after the date of the import exceeds the limit set for the site’s mailing archive days. PostUp will also delete the download links associated with each statistic.
