Return an Idea for Revision
In PowerSteering, an Idea is a noteworthy suggestion that an organization should consider pursuing. Ideas provide a simple way to capture and review potential initiatives before committing any resources. Ideas can be submitted for review and subsequently be approved and converted into Projects (or any type of work item) at any time.
Note: "Idea" is a Replaceable Term in PowerSteering.
Once an Idea has been created and submitted for approval, any user with the "Approve / Reject Idea" Project Tasks permission on the Idea can approve or reject it. Ideas that are not suitable to become work items can be outright rejected, but some Ideas only require a few adjustments to be acceptable. When this is the case, the Idea can be returned for revision. This allows the Idea owner to refine the Idea to make it suitable for conversion.
To return an Idea for revision:
Before You Start: Users require the "Approve / Reject Idea" Project Tasks permission on an Idea in order to return it for revision.
-
Navigate to the Idea.
-
Select the Return for Revision button in the top right-hand corner of the Idea's Summary page.
Note: If you cannot see the Reject button, review of the Idea has not been requested yet.
-
(Optional) Enter a comment into the "Comment" field.
Tip: Although this field is optional, leaving a comment is strongly recommended. This way, the Idea Owner will understand the revisions that need to be made before resubmitting the Idea.
-
Select the Return for Revision button.
After selecting Return for Revision, the Idea will automatically receive a "Returned for Revision" Idea Status and a "Needs Attention" work status. Users with the "Idea Approved/Rejected/Sent Back for Revisions" Alert Subscription on the Idea will be notified.
Users can revise it and resubmit it for review at any time.
