The RO Platform Salesforce integration is installed and configured as a Salesforce.com AppExchange certified app. It integrates with all editions of Salesforce (Enterprise, Unlimited, Developer, and Performance). If you are using Professional, this will require an optional API access version as we require API user access.

The RO Platform runs within the Salesforce.com window for sales users, but in its own browser window for Reference Managers and Admins. Salesforce.com users are automatically logged into the RO Platform when they click on one of the RO Platform links within Salesforce.com. Salesforce.com is the system of record for much of the customer and contact data. The RO Platform can be configured to pull additional data from Salesforce.com, and, for that data, Salesforce.com is also the system of record. The RO Platform is the system of record for data that is specifically related to the reference program. The RO Platform maintains its own data stores, and pulls data from Salesforce.com on a periodic basis. As a small subset of status information within the RO Platform changes, it is written back to Salesforce.com. In standard implementations, Upland RO Innovation writes back information about requests, nominations and spotlights, and shows the status of each as they progress through associated workflows. The RO Platform can only write information back to our objects and related lists, it does not actually change anything about the SFDC objects). Basic demographic information from the Account and Contact objects, as well as high-level information from Opportunities is always integrated. In addition, fields that are standard in the Account, Opportunity, and Contact objects for viewing and searching in the RO Platform can also be integrated.

Getting Started

Installing the Salesforce application will enable seamless integration between the RO Platform and Salesforce. However, your organization will need to contact Upland RO Innovation for service enablement and even recommend that you allow us to guide you through the configuration process. You will be provided with a link to the RO Platform Managed Package, and a password that you will need to install the package. We highly recommend that you install the package For Admins Only, regardless of whether this is a Sandbox or Production environment. For Sandbox environments, this allows you to emulate what you will do once you move to Production.
