Using the Work Processes

Tenrox provides a powerful tool that allows managers to review all organization work process entries in progress. The entries for the work processes are displayed in the Work List. Tenrox uses work processes to streamline business processes in an organization. The work processes are predefined stages that are set up by the administrator to ensure that all users follow the same method to achieve a specific result. The work processes maximize efficiency by maintaining a consistent standard in an organization; for example, a work process can be used to control the process for service requests to ensure that all requests pass through the defined states and that a specific approval process is in place.

The work processes are initiated by the work process entries and consist of states and transitions. Each work process entry is associated with a specific work process and consists of states and transitions. The Application Administrator configures the state and transition names.

  • Work processes automate and streamline business practices; multiple work processes can be used in an organization to enforce a systematic method of producing results
  • Work process entries manage requests that require multi-level business processing to be resolved, such as support questions to network problems
  • States mark the progress of a specific work types and make them visible
  • Transitions are the actions that move a work process entry from one state to the next

Note: Before an individual or group of individuals is assigned to a state and before transiting from one state to the next, a certain work type must be completed.

The Processes tab contains a list of the work processes for which work process entries. The managers are often responsible for delegating work process entries to members of their staff, as well as initiating and closing them. To access specific work process entries that must be completed, click the Processes>Work List. When a specific work process is clicked, a list containing all work process entries of that type assigned to the user are displayed. The administrators view all work process entries created by the users of the organization. Since it is the administrator who enables the various work process types, different options can be displayed in the list.

The following image map displays the phases that standard users typically use to work with the work processes. Click a phase to display its corresponding page.
