About Routing Sheets

Routing sheets always contain Embedded Directives information. An AccuRoute Desktop or Web Client user can generate a Routing Sheet containing the Embedded Directive information and add the Routing Sheet to an outbound message.

When the server generates a routing sheet on demand for an AccuRoute Desktop user, it creates an Embedded Directive, stores it on the server, and includes in the routing sheet. (This Embedded Directive acts like a "key", as it unlocks the routing information and processing instructions associated with the document.) When an outbound document includes a routing sheet containing an Embedded Directive, the server scans the text of the document (using OCR technology) and detects the Embedded Directive.

Routing Sheets are the result of two files.

  • Routing Sheet template - Can be in OMTPL, RTF, DOC, HTM, or HTML file format.
  • Routing Sheet display name - must be in the WTX file format and have the same name as the Routing Sheet template file.

More about routing sheets

Customizing routing sheets

Routing sheets are created from routing sheet templates on the server. These routing sheet templates can be customized to suit the needs of your company. You can modify the routing sheet templates installed on the server and create new routing sheet templates that might have general or specific uses in your company.

After you customize routing sheet templates for your company and store them in the appropriate directory on the server, AccuRoute Desktop users will be able to select the routing sheet "style" they want to use from a list in AccuRoute Desktop. The list displays all the routing sheet templates on the server.

Using a cover page routing sheet

While the routing sheet's primary function is to carry an outbound message's Embedded Directive to the server, the routing sheet also serves as a cover page for the message. When a user creates a routing sheet, the user can choose to include the routing sheet as part of the delivered message, or omit the routing sheet from the delivered message.

Note: The routing sheet must be either the first page or the last page in order to detect and create messages.
