Creating a Venn diagram

Use the new intersection function to select a blank Venn diagram canvas and build a Venn intersection.

On the Venn designer tab:

  1. Drag-and-drop a data set from your data tree onto the Venn canvas.

  2. If there is valid data in your selection, the canvas will update to display a count of records in the segment.

  3. Continue adding data sets to the canvas, up to a maximum of 5.

As you add sets, the diagram will expand to display the overlap between data sets and the count within each overlapping and non-overlapping segment.

Tip: right-click a segment to open the right-click menu and change from count to percent view.

  4. When you are happy with your intersection, press the Save or Save as button in the function menu.

  5. Enter a name for your intersection.

  6. Enter a description.

Tip: you can also enter a description in the properties pane. This description will pre-populate the field when saving.

  7. Select a location to save the intersection within Audiences.

Tip: create folders and subfolders to organise your saved elements.

  8. Press the Save button.

Editing Venn properties

The properties pane is located to the right of the canvas. Here you can:

  • Change the table level at which the Venn diagram is calculated by selecting from the dropdown menu.

Note: calculating an intersection at the wrong table level can result in errors.

  • Manually add a set by:

    • Pressing the Add button under the Sets menu.

    • Editing the syntax for the set.

  • Edit your set syntax by:

    1. Selecting the pen icon next to a data set.

    2. Entering new syntax into the textbox.

    3. Pressing the OK button.
