Handling Unsubscribes - Campaign Options

Including an unsubscribe link in your campaigns allows recipients to opt out of your marketing. In your campaign options, you can choose to:

Recipients that unsubscribe are added to your campaign's unsub list and will not be sent further mailings from that campaign, i.e. they will be automatically suppressed.

Tip: this article covers how to insert a link from the campaign options. Alternatively, you can add an unsubscribe link within your email copy.

Inserting unsubscribe links

When you insert an unsubscribe link from the options step of the campaign workflow, you can choose to:

  • Insert the link into the HTML parts,

  • Insert the link into the text parts, or

  • Insert the link into both parts by selecting the appropriate checkboxes.

Note: these checkboxes are used to add a link to your footer. If you are entering an unsubscribe link to your email copy, do not use these checkboxes.

After selecting where the link is inserted, you then need to define an unsubscribe action: use default unsubscribe template, show a custom page, or show a custom form.

Use default unsubscribe template

Selecting the default unsubscribe template option will insert a generic unsubscribe link into your email footer. When a recipient follows the unsubscribe link, Adestra generates an automatic unsubscribe confirmation page.

Tip: you can edit the standard unsubscribe confirmation page using a boilerplate.

Boilerplates are an on-demand feature. Please contact your account manager for more information.

Show a custom page

Selecting the show a custom page option allows you to enter a URL for your choice of unsubscribe page, i.e. direct the unsubscribing recipient to a branded page with your unsubscribe messaging.

Show a custom form

Selecting the show a custom form option allows you to direct people to a dedicated unsubscribe form.
