Add and Manage Rate Cards

Administrators can create Rate Cards and apply them to multiple Resource Types in Eclipse PPM. When the Rate of a Rate Card is changed, it will automatically update the Default Rate of every Resource Type that the Rate Card is associated with. Administrators can assign the same Rate Card to multiple Resource Types that share the same Rate in order to update their "Default Rates" simultaneously.

Once a Rate Card has been created, it can be applied to multiple Resource Types on the Organization Structure page. Administrators can use the "Rate Card" drop-down menu to apply a Rate Card while creating or editing a Resource Type.

Notice that the "Default Rate" field is grayed out. This is because it cannot be edited; the "Default Rate" is synchronized with the Rate Card, so it will only change when the Rate Card's "Rate" is changed.

Tip: This feature can be used in conjunction with the Resource Rate Bulk Update feature to streamline the process of updating Resource Type Rates.

Example: Aly's agency pays architects at a Rate of £300. However, there many different kinds of architects that work for her, each with a different Resource Type ("BIM Model Architect", "Surveyor Architect", etc.). Market trends have forced her agency to increase this Rate to £320, so she will need to update the Default Rate of each architect Resource Type.
Without the use of Rate Cards, she would have had to edit every Resource Type on the Structure page to reflect this change. This would have taken up a great deal of time as well as leave room for human error. However, she can simply edit the "Architect Rate" Rate Card instead.

Once she saves this change, all of the architect Resource Types with the "Architect Rate" applied to them will automatically reflect the new Default Rate.
Additionally, she can use the Resource Rate Bulk Update feature to push these updates to existing Resources.

This page covers the following topics:

Creating Rate Cards

Administrators must create Rate Cards before they can be applied to Resource Types in Eclipse PPM. Once they are created, they can be applied to Resource Types and eventually pushed to existing Resources with those Resource Types using the Resource Rate Bulk Update feature.

To create a Rate Card:

Before You Start: Users require the "Configuration Administration" permission from an Application Policy to create and edit Rate Cards.

  1. Select the Administration icon from the Icon Bar.

  2. Select Rate Cards from the "Resource" menu.

  3. Select the Edit button.

  4. Select the Add New button.

  5. Select the "Name" field to enter a name for your new Rate Card.

  6. Select the "Rate" field to determine the Default Rate of each Resource Type that this Rate Card is applied to.

  7. (Optional) Repeat Steps 4-6 to add any more Resource Cards to Eclipse PPM.

  8. Select the Save button.

After selecting Save, the Resource Card(s) will be added to Eclipse PPM. They can be applied to Resource Types while editing the Organization Structure.

Editing Resource Cards

Once a Resource Card has been created, its name or "Rate" can be edited at any time. Editing the "Rate" of a Resource Card will automatically update the "Default Rate" of every Resource Type that the Resource Card is applied to.

To edit Resource Cards:

Before You Start: Users require the "Configuration Administration" permission from an Application Policy to create and edit Rate Cards.

  1. Select the Administration icon from the Icon Bar.

  2. Select Rate Cards from the "Resource" menu.

  3. Select the Edit button.

  4. Select the "Name" field of any Rate Card to edit it.

Note: This will change the name of the Rate Card on Resource Types that the Rate Card is applied to.

  5. Select the "Rate" field of any Rate Card to edit it.

  6. Select the Save button once you are finished all of your edits.

After selecting Save, your changes will be applied to the Rate Cards. The "Default Rate" of any Resource Types that the updated Rate Cards have been applied to will be updated to match the corresponding "Rates".

Tip: If you would like to push these updates to existing Resources with these Resource Types on their profile, you can use the Resource Rate Bulk Update feature.
