Create a Deliverable

Deliverables are work items (Milestones, sub-Projects, Documents, etc.) that are associated with Project Gates. They can be marked as optional or required, which means that they must be completed in order to advance the Gate.

Deliverables can easily be created using the "Descendants" module on a Gated Project's Summary page.

To create a new Deliverable:

Before You Start: Users require the "Add Child" Project Task permission on the work item to add Deliverables to it.

1. Navigate to the work item.

2. Select Add / Remove from the "Descendants" module:

   

3. Select the Add New button:

   

4. Use the "Type" drop-down menu to select which Object Type the Deliverable will be:

   

   Note: If you choose Document, see Add Document to a Gate for further information.

5. Decide whether the Deliverable will be a required Gate Deliverable or not.

   

   Note: If you choose "Yes", the Deliverable will need to be completed before the Gate can be advanced (depending on Phase Advance Settings). In other words, it will act the same as a Pre-Advance Condition attached to the Gate.

6. Select which gate to attach the Deliverable using the "Gate" drop-down menu.

   

7. Select the Continue button.

   

8. Create the new Deliverable.

   Example: You may have chosen an Object Type called "Custom Project" from the "Type" drop-down menu. This is a Project, so the Create Project page will appear:
   
   
   

After creating the new Deliverable, it will be added to the gate designated in Step 6. It will be visible after expanding the Gate in the "Descendants" module (selecting its "Expand" icon ):

If the Deliverable was marked as required in Step 5, it will also appear as a "Required Deliverable" in the gate panel at the top of the Summary page:
