About PDF/A Document Final Format

The Compose Component supports PDF/A as document final format. PDF/A is the ISO Standard for using the PDF file format in archiving electronic documents.

  • PDF/A

  • PDF/A (image + OCR text)

  • PDF/A (OCR text)

The PDF/A1-b final format will be preserved through splits and merges.

When PDF/A files are opened in Adobe Acrobat, they can have a blue bar across the top indicating they are PDF/A compliant. To ascertain the compliance, run the file through a PDF/A verifier such as Preflight, which is found in the full version of Adobe Acrobat.

Files that start as electronic documents may fail PDF/A-1b conformance verifications due to the potential issues related to font availability. Upland Upland AccuRoute recommends using scanned documents for PDF/A conversions.

Note: Upland Upland AccuRoute uses Adobe Acrobat X for PDF/A-1b conformance verification.
