The PDF/A1-b final format will be preserved through splits and merges.
When PDF/A files are opened in Adobe Acrobat, they can have a blue bar across the top indicating they are PDF/A compliant. To ascertain the compliance, run the file through a PDF/A verifier such as Preflight, which is found in the full version of Adobe Acrobat.
Files that start as electronic documents may fail
PDF/A-1b conformance verifications due to the potential issues related
to font availability.
