Testing Compose of an Asian Language

You can test Compose of an Asian language to an OCR final format by using the Server Administrator > Components node.

To test Compose of an Asian language

  1. Enable one Asian language type; for example, Chinese).

Note: You can enable only one Asian language at a time for a composer. If you enable more than one Asian language, all documents will fail to compose.

  1. Submit your documents via Filescan with a control file property for the OCR conversion type of the language.

Note: Best practice is to have OCR.RTF or OCR.DOC, OCR.DOCX as the final form so that you are viewing the actual characters and not an image of the characters.

  1. Start the Server Administrator.

  2. On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree navigate to Components.

  3. Double-click Compose.

  4. Click the OCR tab and then the Advanced button.

  5. Click the Languages tab. Select the Asian language; for example, Chinese (Simplified, PRC). Click OK.

  6. Click the Composers tab and then the Add button.

  7. Type localhost as the Server Address. Then type an Asian compose license for the License key. Click OK.

  8. Highlight the Asian language composer and click the Properties button.

  9. On the Composer Package Properties dialog box, you can type a Description (such as CHINESE).

  10. Click the Convert To tab. Enable only OCR.xxx file conversion. Click OK.

  11. On the Properties for Compose dialog box, disable the OCR only composer to ensure that compose jobs are sent to the Asian language composer (such as the Chinese composer).

  12. Create an outbound rule (Messages > Outbound) with criteria to set the destination as a fax number, an action to route to a connector (Filescan on the server), and the document delivery method as DOC (OCR Text).

  13. Submit a quick fax (Messages > New > Quick Fax) to the fax number. Add the language document (such as a chinese_sample.doc) as an attachment.

  14. Verify that the file is composed and that the final form is in the same language as the original.

To test another Asian Language without changing anything on the composers from the testing completed above

  1. Create a control file with the following variables.

#SENDER_EMAIL test@test.com
# \\prComposeOcr\prOCRLanguages(prOCRLanguageId=120)\prEnabled 1
#DESTINATION 123

The second line indicates the language. In the example above, Simplified Chinese is specified (LanguageID=120).

  1. Submit a language file.

  2. Verify that the output is converted correctly.

You can test each language OCR, one at a time, by submitting the jobs through Filescan using the control file and setting these properties.

  • Chinese (Simplified): \\prComposeOcr\prOCRLanguages(prOCRLanguageId=120)\prEnabled 1
  • Japanese: \\prComposeOcr\prOCRLanguages(prOCRLanguageId=119)\prEnabled 1
