Managing Dialing Rules

To view a dialing rule

1. Start the Server Administrator.
   On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.

2. On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree.

3. Double-click Connectors. The connectors are listed in the details pane.

4. Double-click Telco Connector to open the Properties page.

5. In the Dialing Rules section, select the dialing rule you want to view.

6. Click Properties. The Dialing Rule Properties page opens.

7. View the dialing rule configuration.

8. When you have finished viewing, click OK.

To modify a dialing rule

1. Start the Server Administrator.
   On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.

2. On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree.

3. Double-click Connectors. The connectors are listed in the details pane.

4. Double-click Telco Connector to open the Properties page.

5. In the Dialing Rules section, select the dialing rule you want to modify.

6. Click Properties. The Dialing Rule Properties page opens.

7. Modify any of the following properties.

   • Name - The name for the rule.

   • Country Code- The country code A country code is an unique numeric identification number assigned to each country in the world. The country code is used when calling a phone number inside a particular country from anywhere outside that country. The phone system uses the country code to determine the location of the phone number you have dialed. for location of the fax board.

   • International Access Code - The international access code. This is an additional number dialed as part of the phone number when calling from one country to another country. The international access codes differ from country to country; use the code for the country from which you are calling. for the country selected in the Location option.

   • Prefix - The digit or digits that should be dialed before placing a call on the line connected to this channel (such as dialing 9 to reach an outside line). You must add one comma after the dial prefix for every second the fax board should wait after dialing the prefix digit or digits before continuing to dial the fax number.

   • Suffix - The digit(s) to dial after placing a call on the line connected to the channel (such as PBX access codes).

   • Dial using - The dial type for the line connected to the channel. Your options are Tone (for push-button dialing) or Pulse (for a rotary phone).

8. Click OKtwice to close the Telco Properties page.

To delete a dialing rule

1. Start the Server Administrator.
   On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.

2. On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree.

3. Double-click Connectors. The connectors are listed in the details pane.

4. Double-click Telco Connector to open the Properties page.

5. In the Dialing Rules section, select the dialing rule you want to delete.

6. Click Delete. You are prompted to confirm that you want to delete the rule.

7. Click Yes. The dialing rule is deleted from the Dialing Rules section

To test a dialing rule

1. Start the Server Administrator.
   On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.

2. On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree.

3. Double-click Connectors. The connectors are listed in the details pane.

4. Double-click Telco Connector to open the Properties page.

5. Click Dialing Rules to open the Dialing Rules page.

6. Click Test. The Test Dialing Rules page opens.

7. In the Normalized Fax Number text box, enter a normalized fax number to use in testing the dialing rules.

   Use the format +<country code><area code><local number>. For example, if you want to test the 555-1234 phone number in the 603 area code in the United States, enter : +16035551234.

   Note: You must include the plus sign before the fax number you want to test.

   The Results section shows how each rule you have created will dial the specified normalized fax number.

8. Repeat step 7 to test another rule, if necessary.

9. Click Close to close the Test Dialing Rules page when you finish testing the dialing rule.
