Users Overview

Users represent the individuals who have access to Eclipse PPM. Each user can log into the application and interact with it. Their ability to interact with Eclipse PPM is based off of the permissions that they obtain through the Security Policies and User Groups they belong to.

Note: The difference between Users and Resources can sometimes cause confusion.

Users represent individuals who have access to Eclipse PPM. They can log into and interact with the application to some capacity.

Resources represent individuals who can be assigned to work in Eclipse PPM. Non-user Resources can still be assigned to Projects and Tasks, but the individual represented by the Resource cannot necessarily access the application.

Users are not always Resources and Resources are not always users. However, they can be linked to each other when they represent the same individual. See Creating Users from the Resource Page and Creating Resources from Users for more information.
