Seeding a Mailing
After selecting a target audience, adding content, and rendering your mailing, you can run a seed test on your mailing.
Seed testing provides you with critical delivery information on whether the ISPs will deliver the message to the inbox, the bulk folder or block the message. You may also use this report to check and validate sending infrastructure, content and reputation.
You will have two options for requesting seed tests during the mailing creation process.
-
Integrated seed test - deployed when the mailing is sent.
-
Standalone seed test - used and viewed prior to sending a mailing.
Use the reports tab to view the results of seed tests.
After you have run your seed tests, you can schedule your mailing.
Run an integrated seed test
- Create or edit a mailing.
- Select the seeding tab. You will see the integrated seed test options at the top of the page.
- Use the checkboxes to include a seed test with your mailing. You can chose:
- Include automated seeds – a preset seed list provided through Glock Apps. The automated seed test is sent only when a customer mailing is deployed, and the send size of the mailing list must be a minimum of 10000.
- Include custom seeds – any additional email addresses you want to receive a copy of the mailing at the time of deployment. For recurring and drip mailings, you will only have the option to add custom seeds.
- If adding custom seeds, you will need to type out the email addresses you want to include. Separate emails with commas or use the return/enter key to add each email on a separate line.
Run a standalone seed test
- Scroll to the bottom of the seeding tab to find the standalone seed test section.
- [Optional] Select the recipient and list to be used for the seed test, if applicable.
-
Press the run seed test to request the seeding report. Once clicked, this button will turn gray until results are viewed.
Note: after you have viewed the seeding results, the run seed test button will become available again to request a new report.
Requesting a new version of the report will delete previous seeding results for that mailing on this tab. You will still have access to the previous results through the reports tab.
Understanding the seeding reports
Both the Standalone and the Integrated Seed Tests are broken into two tabs, Consumer Providers and B2B Providers. The reports are represented in the same format; the difference is in the clients that are listed.
The overall seeded inbox delivery percentage is listed at the top left corner. You can also see the percentage that went to spam, and the percentage of messages missing. Scroll through the page to see these delivery rates by ISP.
As soon as results start to become available, they will be displayed in the report. This does not mean the report has finished generating. It can take several minutes to get accurate results.
If you see a large number of ISPs indicating your mailing is missing or in spam, try clicking the Refresh Results button to bring in updated information.
