Data Viewer
Whenever you browse data in Adestra, you will be working with the data viewer. The data viewer allows you to view and modify sets of contacts and edit individual contacts.
Tip: many actions in the data viewer only appear when you select an item, e.g. check the box next to a contact in a list to see data viewer actions for that contact.
On this page:
Overview
By default, the data viewer displays the contact email addresses and the contact ID numbers, which are automatically allocated by Adestra. Clicking on an address or ID will take you to the Contact Data screen, where you can see and manage the individual contact information. For help with managing contacts, refer to the Contact Profile topic.
In the data viewer you can search for particular email addresses in your current data selection by using the 'Search email' box above the function buttons.
Note: You can search only for full email addresses.
List Management
There are two types of actions that you can take in the data viewer. List actions—which will affect all contacts within a list, and Specific actions— that affect only the contacts selected.
Note: the checkbox in the field header will apply to all records on all pages of the current selection, not just the records you can see checked.
Downloading Data
If you have Data Admin rights you can download a list's data by clicking the download button at the bottom of the data viewer.
Note: This button is only visible if you have Data Admin rights.

Click 'Okay' and the selected fields will be displayed.
Filter Contacts
It is possible to apply a filter to your current data selection, using the 'Filter Contacts' button. The page will expand to display the filter section, where you can refine which contacts are displayed.
This can be useful, for example, if you wish to create a new list based on particular criteria; you can set filter rules to segment the data, which can then be added to a new or existing list.
To use a saved filter, click the 'Load Filter' button in the top right and you will be able to select from the available filters.
For more information about creating and applying filters, refer to the Filters topic.
