Build a Report

Analytics offers powerful reporting capabilities that work together to help you understand and act on your data.

You can build a variety of different reports in Analytics ranging from the simple to the complex. Analytics provides a simplified approach to building a report. To learn more about the available report types in Analytics , see Chart Guide.

To build a report:

  1. Click Report from the Create New dropdown list.

  2. Select your Data Source.

    The data source is the location where the data that you want to use for the report originates from.

  3. Select a Report Type.

    The report type you choose determines which records and fields you can add to your report. The fields that must be defined for the report are based on your selected report type. For a list of available report types, see Chart Guide.

  4. Add Fields to your Report.

    The Available Fields section displays fields from the selected report type, organized alphabetically by group and then by field name. You can also add custom fields and add filters to your report.

  5. Apply Settings and Design the Report. Optional

    You can customize the options available on your report. The available report settings are based on your selected report type. For a list of available report settings, see Report Settings. After you make your selections, you can click Refresh to review the report in the report preview.

  6. Create an On Page Filter. Optional

    Select the fields to allow report viewers to create their own filters in the report.

  7. Add Drilldown Settings. Optional

    Add drill down logical hierarchies within your data.

  8. Name the Report and Add Permissions.

    Type the name for the report and select the location where the report will be stored, configure permissions (optional), and save the report.
