Configuring Clients (WBS)
Work performed in service-oriented companies is generally billed to a client. In some cases the client may be an internal department within the company. In other cases, the client may be an external entity requesting a specific project.
Within PSA, each task performed is entered against a specific field. Every task can be traced back to a particular client. The client profile is the root of all contact information as well as cost, billing and invoicing rules that should be applied to any entries made for work eventually billed back to the client. Taking time to enter all appropriate data for the client makes posting invoices and applying cost/billing rules very straightforward. The client profile contains a large amount of information.
A complete set up for a client contains most or all of the following information:
- Client general information
- Client contact information for key contacts
- Client scopes (locations)
- Client setup expense rules
- Client invoice setup and generation
- Client setup cost and billing rules
When creating a new client, the only visible navigation item is Details with the General, CRM and any available UDF sub tabs. Once the minimum required information for creating a client are entered, and saved, all the other client elements that can be completed will be visible:
- Under the Settings section, you can find the Details.
- Under the Financial section, you can find the Invoice Options, Accounting as well as Cost, Billing and Rate Cards components of your client.
- Under the Others section, you can find the Scope, and Attachments.
- Under the Related section, you can find the Clients and Users related to your Client.
- From the Integration section, you can set up the integration with various third-party applications.
From the tab navigation you can access related/associated objects such as Client Invoices, POs, Projects and Contacts.
