Text Messaging

A text-messaging campaign consists of related opt-in path and broadcast messages sent from your company or organization. In order to be compliant with FCC and industry standards, you must obtain permission from mobile users before including them in a text-messaging campaign.

To gain permission:

  1. Publish a call to action asking mobile phone users to text a keyword to a 5, 6, or 10-digit code. This can be an advertisement or announcement aimed at prospective users.
  2. After you receive a text message indicating interest, respond with an opt-in message inviting the user to sign up for text messages by texting YES to confirm. In some cases, the user will be asked to supply a qualifying ZIP code or a qualifying date of birth.

Note: You can also gain user permission with a sign-up form on your website or from Mobile Commons integration with your CRM.

  3. After the user has given permission to receive messages (subscription), you can send ongoing broadcast messages to promote your company or organization.
